Analytical Chemistry

Tatlock & Thomson's UK core work and major speciality remains the analyses of alcoholic drinks and the production of independent accredited certificates of analysis for the purposes of UK and World-wide drinks safety legislation and the importing requirements of countries abroad. Additionally, Tatlock & Thomson carry out research and development projects for whisky distilleries, wineries and breweries principally in Europe but also in the USA and India. We specialise in the efficient use of raw materials for potable spirit production and methods to optimise the maturation of these products. We have assisted major distilleries, start-up distilleries and wineries in the selection and sourcing of cooperage oakwood for the maturation and fine finishing of wines and spirits and recently have been involved in the introduction of new American oak barrels for the maturation of whisky. Involvement in greenfield site projects include the recent development of the new Hven Distillery in Sweden www.hven.com which was built entirely in Scotland and assembled on the island of Hven.

Additionally we offer assistance in new product development including flavoured drinks and cream liqueurs. Extensive water analysis is carried across Scotland for the drinks industry, private potable supplies including hotels, spas and swimming pools.
