Analytical Chemistry
Tatlock & Thomson's UK core work remains the analyses
of samples of food and alcoholic drinks and the production
of independent accredited certificates of analysis for the
purposes of UK and European food safety legislation and product
export. Additionally, Tatlock & Thomson carry out research
and development projects for distilleries, wineries and breweries
all over the world including the USA, Japan, Australia, South
Africa and India. We specialise in the efficient use of raw
materials for potable spirit production and methods to optimise
the finishing of quality wines and spirits. We carry out leading
edge production led research into matured wines and spirits
and have assisted major distilleries and wineries in the selection
and sourcing of cooperage oakwood for the maturation and fine
finishing of wines and spirits. Existing and past projects
have extended to America, Europe, Australia, South Africa,
Japan and India. Additionally, excellent relationships are
in place with engineering consultancies which allow Tatlock
and Thomson to advise on the technical aspects of turnkey
projects from greenfield site to production distilling and
final product marketing.
Additionally we offer sensory training and assistance in
new product development. Extensive water analysis is carried
across Scotland for the food and drinks industry, private
potable supplies including hotels and swimming pools. Sensory
training of production staff for client companies is a major
area of expertise and is often linked to new product development. This new product development encompases liqueurs, flavoured alcoholic drinks and fruit wines.
